I’ll start with a caveat – That Idiotic Film was magically turned into some sort of rallying symbol for people who are angry, and they protested it. The film should’ve died without a ripple. The Muslim community should trust that Allah isn’t so insecure as to be threatened by some amateur provocateur. However.
We are currently hosting 2 Hazara Afghan refugees. They are Shiite Muslims, but they have fled because they are being wiped out as an ethnic group. One of them spent 8 days on a leaky fishing boat, one of 115 people with food for 41 & no fresh water until it rained on the 3rd night. 12 months in detention, preliminarily cleared. They’ve been sent out to look for work but not provided with a TFN. One of them was a policeman involved in counter-terrorism – he’s now doing the rounds of restaurants in the CBD, asking for dishwashing jobs – but he has to have his own transport (& an Australian drivers license) as the jobs finish after the buses stop running. They haven’t seen their families in over a year.
I fail to comprehend how people think these guys have “had it easy”, or skipped that mythical queue. They’ve made their way through multiple (predominantly-Muslim) countries (and when we asked “why not” Malaysia, or Indonesia, they explained that their ethnic group is targeted/killed in ALL of those countries); spent every penny ever scraped together by their extended families; suffered overcrowding, hunger, thirst, risk of drowning; been held in detention centres while we decide whether they’re genuine refugees; finally spoke/cried/rejoiced with their families after more than a YEAR without contact… and now all they want is to find work, to learn English, to learn Australian customs & explain theirs to us.

Have you been living under a fucking rock? Go read up about Shi’ite Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia, specifically the part where they have faced persecution, both state and vigilante, for decades. Malaysia has even forbidden the practice of that sect.

Just because we don’t hear about something prominently in the media doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. I don’t know the detaisl of Hazara’s lives and much about them but from what I gather they are pretty badly persecuted in many places. Do you think that’s not happening or something?

That should have read lack of self worth. So I’m a little confused, have you colonials developed a sophisticated Criminnal Justice system? In Europe where most white Aussies originate from people who look like this and spout this level of psychosis are kept well out of the way of the majority of people who make a positive contribution to decent society. Usually they are detained in prisons because they are common criminals, although some of those on this site would certainly have a diagnosis of Personality Disorder having voiced irrational hatered and througfh it an inability to function within any form of social boundries. As I said, police do have important things to do apart from looking at facebook, but if you honestly believe that there are police who are choosing to look at facebook to go after racists rather than go after rapists and murderers, then you are an idiot. However, shock horror, if the comments are offensive enough (especially if they include calls of violence, or direct threats), police can do both!
