A 33-year-old man has been beaten unconscious – twice – during a late-night attack in front of stunned onlookers.

The man, originally from Kenya, had been trying to ignore a group of three men who began following him, shouting racial abuse as he left a Chapel Street nightclub.

But the group continued taunting him until he was finally set upon in a Prahran car park just after 3am on Sunday.

The man was knocked out by repeated blows to the head, regained consciousness, and was then knocked out again with another kick to the head, police said.

Shocked onlookers near the car park, on the corner of Princes Close and Little Chapel Street, rushed to help the man while the three attackers fled.

The man suffered such severe facial injuries that he’s been unable to tell police exactly what happened.

But Detective Senior Constable Katie Johnston said the entire attack has been captured on CCTV cameras.

“We’ve seen it and it’s disgusting, to be honest,” she said.

“This one is particularly sickening. Very brutal. And the fact that he’s been rendered unconscious, twice, in a matter of 30 seconds is just disgusting.”

She said the three men were much larger than the man, who remains in The Alfred hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“He didn’t physically stand any chance,” she said. “He was just sticking up for himself and it’s ended up with himself in hospital.”

Two of the men were Caucasian in appearance while the third man was perceived to be of Islander appearance with short, black dreadlocks.

Police have released images of the men taken from CCTV footage of the area, as well as images of three others who were in the area and may be able to help in the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or has information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The PFF – a soft and sloppy party farty farts again

#smh_news                 #guardian                 #abcnews

Once upon a time, the offspring of a Russian immigrant yearned to stamp his presence on the Australian landscape.

The resulting impact could be likened to the thud a parasite-ravaged dead autumn leaf makes as it plops to the ground.

Nicholas Hunter Folkes started his relentless quest for Führerdom with the Australian Protectionist Party, founded by former Nazi Darrin Hodges.

Seeking some sort of respectability and by now enamoured of Dutch far right politician and Muslimhater Pursuivant Geert Wilders, Niqi (named for his favourite piece of women’s clothing) and his ragged band of disciples then split from the APP and founded the Party for Freedom, named after Gertie’s little lot in the Netherlands.

Niqi’s revered mentor Geert Wilders in a landmark contemplative moment

You can read some of Niqi’s history here, slackbastard has more here and you can actually watch him in a rool TV series here (provided you pay cash-strapped SBS for the privilege).

Far right self-styled “white nationalists” are universally dim bulbs at best but even Niqi seems to have realised that going hard on Muslims might be not the way to go at the moment, given the sad fates of fellow Muslim haters and white supremacists Nathan Abela and ADF KP veteran Ralph “Sad Sack” Cerminara , both of the ADL.

Ralphski fights the Islamic hordes

To date to the best of our knowledge Niqi has not yet been charged with anything  but there is always a first time.

You don’t have to look very far to see that Niqi has a long history of Chinese-hate. On the other hand he has stated on several occasions his preferred Australian is something called an “Anglo-Celtic”.

Since Niqi is neither Anglo nor Celtic we find that rather puzzling.

So Niqi and his faithful body servant Radka Smith (AKA “Ozzie Possum”) along with a scattering of really weird people are taking on the supposed fiscal might of the PRC and the billions of Chinese poised to invade the Great Golden Mountain and steal all our McMansions.

The Yellow Peril strikes again!

Now the way in which you’d expect the pffs to conduct their research would be to do drive-bys of auctions and open houses and count the number of Asian faces they see then extrapolate that into a tsunami of fear and loathing against the Chinese. We’ve seen them do that sort of “research” before with other minorities and it lets the pffs pretend they are normal people with amazeballs knowledge of demography and economics.

dunce

Amazeballs

 The facts

There are 1.5 million people of East Asian descent living in Australia. The forebears of some of those families have lived here longer than Niqi’s family. However contrary to the pffs’ delusions they are not all Chinese.

The largest group of East Asians are people of Chinese descent, and they range from new arrivals to second, third and fourth generation Australians.

The next largest East Asian group is Filipinos. Filipinos have lived in Australia since the beginning of the 20th Century. The smallest group is the Tibetans, most of whom are refugees.

However as you can expect pffs cannot tell the difference between Chinese and all the other East Asian people who live here. It’s a bit like assuming all Europeans are the same, or all Africans. It’s called prejudice.

So if an East Asian family or (shock horror) a mixed couple fronts up to an auction or open house, the pffs scramble back to their sewers and declare that Straya is being invaded by Chinese.

Josh Qong Tart – part of the imaginary Chinese invasion?

niqiantichinese

Japanese, Chinese – to the PFF they are all the same. From a racist flyer littered around the inner west and lower North Shore of Sydney.

Actually an Opera House done up as a Chinese flag would be cool for the Vivid Festival. Tourists would love it.

According to FIRB data, the dollar value of real estate investment approvals by country last financial year looked like this:

China $12,406m
USA $6,135m
Singapore $4,303m
Canada $2,945m
Malaysia $2,038m
UK $1,795m
Netherlands $1,720m
NZ $1,362m
Hong Kong $1,279m
Germany $1,169m
South Korea $1,083m
And that esteemed body the Reserve Bank notes in its report that:

The available data, while incomplete, suggest that for much of the past decade or so approvals granted for foreign investment in the residential sector have remained around 5–10 per cent of the value of dwelling turnover in Australia, and perhaps half that share of the total number of dwellings turned over. The actual level of foreign purchases of dwellings has been significantly lower. Foreign purchases appear to be most concentrated in new rather than established dwellings,in higher- rather than lower-priced dwellings, in medium- and high-density dwellings rather than detached dwellings, and in inner-city areas of Sydney and Melbourne rather than other locations

And this article tells us the following:

Blaming foreigners for astronomical prices is nothing but a scapegoat for the policies enacted by government on behalf of bankers and landowners that makes housing unaffordable. Those who are discontented with the current states of affairs should focus their attention on our own government rather than searching for foreign influences.

Add to that the universal tendency of the residential property market and developers to talk up their offerings, to oversell and to bully councils and communities into accepting unsustainable developments and you have the reasons why housing costs so much.

Maybe Niqi with his cosy perch in one of the wealthiest suburbs in Sydney with at least one property in Rozelle does not get that.

We do.

Jim Saleam’s race hate relics fail yet again

It must be hard to chalk up around 40 years of political failure but Dr Jim Saleam’s Australia First (not to be confused with an ADL splinter sect of the same name which seems to consist of one member with a florid set of brain cells) has under a variety of names managed to crown its long litany of flops  with their latest contribution to race hate in Sydney.

The Aboriginal Tent Embassy recently posted this status on Facebook

TABAboriginal1

It didn’t take long to track down the source of this latest bout of racism. We won’t link to Jimmy’s toxic site, we don’t want to encourage them, but a few samples should be enough.

And we have to laugh at any notion that Austraya Fail Party actually has suddenly changed its odorous white supremacist socks to support Indigenous people. In nutzi ranks, all non-white people are inferior.

The pictures

TABAboriginal2

This picture has actually been stolen from the NCIE (National centre for Indigenous Excellence) site. The people shown in the picture would have had no idea that they were going to be used to promote race hatred.

Here is the other image

TABAboriginal3

Taken from this site but without the attribution and acknowledgment from the original site. And it was photographed ten years ago.

And this laugh-worthy ponderous statement from the Führer of Fail himself.

Australia First Party would work with or support as we can any Aboriginal group that defended its own people against this type of injustice.

Amazing how the far right always get it so wrong

And the so-called “Asian” property grab is a myth

So if you want to find the real foreign property grabbers, just head across the Pacific to the rich guys, hedge funds and other players from the US.

Exclusive – Racist attack on Brisbane train

Early this evening on a Brisbane train a man was filmed racially abusing a security guard.

The security guard had apparently requested that the man remove his feet from the opposite seat. The man then started abusing the guard.

The man has allegedly been identified as Kader Boumzar.

Racist rants – it’s Perth’s turn

Sadly despite the successful apprehension and prosecution of racist abusers  and the increased willingness of normal members of the public to make a stand against these abusers we still get stories like these surfacing.

Unfortunately both stories are from Perth this time. Curiously too, the attacks were both from people from ethnic minorities.

The first involves a series of unhinged racist tweets made to West Coast Eagles star Nic Naitanui by Vinh Nguyen.

Racism And Technology Is Evolving Faster Than The Law

Reblogged from Vice

By The Anti Bogan  |

Hey remember that racist lady on the train? You know, the one who offered the heartfelt apology on Channel 7 while using a pseudonym? Yeah, she was horrible but she said sorry so she’s not racist anymore and anyway it was justified because she’s been the victim of racism before and she isn’t really a racist because she has a friend who is half Indian. And it’s okay too because she was splashed across mainstream, independent and social media for days and charged by police for public racial abuse within 48 hours. Thank goodness that’s over and will never happen ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, again.

When it comes to dealing with public discrimination, Australia has the state and federal legislation, but not the teeth. When a YouTube video of a venomous bigot spitting racial diatribe goes viral, it becomes newsworthy. It’s pure gold to mainstream television networks that push voyeuristic sensationalism to an audience hungry for car accidents, home invasions, shootings, and dogs on surfboards.

When this chunk of people power feels offended it’s suddenly vital for authorities and tall poppies to be seen to address the issues immediately. Enter the police spokesperson or local member for Boganville.

It often feels like incidents of racism are on the rise—particularly at the lowly public-transport-riding-citizen level. But a contributing factor is that every person with a mobile phone is now carrying a video camera. The same can be seen in the online world of racism: levels of bigotry have always existed, but now anyone with the Internet has a public voice and the ability to publish their opinions to the world. Camera phones and You Tube may give the impression that we’re more sensitive to racial injustice than our parents, but the actual system in place to protect people against racism is about as effective as clicking ‘like’ on a Facebook post.

Racism was, is and will always be a problem. But the less visible issue arising now is that our legal system isn’t evolving at the same rate as our racist outlets. The enforceable statutes that are in place to protect people from barbs of discrimination are clear and imposing, yet were implemented in a time when incidences of public rants and raves were limited to drunks and creeps on the street beating their chests and dragging their knuckles. It is frequently asserted that people can be ‘prosecuted’ or ‘convicted’ under the Racial Discrimination Act. It is regularly said that section 18C serves to protect hurt feelings at the expense of free speech. In actual fact, neither assertion is true. Additionally, 1 out of every 3 complaints to the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) is declined due to a complex variety of reasons.

At the most basic level, the Racial Discrimination sector of the AHRC states that racial discrimination is against the law and that citizens may lodge complaints. But it continues by stating that it is “not a court” and cannot prove that discrimination has occurred. Additionally, the HRC will generally only accept complaints lodged by a member of the affected group. For example, if you are offended at a television advertisement where Indian people are portrayed in a negatively generalising way, you may only lodge a complaint with the HRC if you are of Indian descent.

At the authoritative level, making a statement at your Local Area Command (LAC) police station will generally prove to be fruitless as well. Officers will tell you that in order to act on online threats or acts of discrimination they will need to conduct an investigation into whether or not the person on the other end is who they say they are. According to one Constable at a local Sydney LAC, it would take up to three months to perform what is called an iASK. This is the same procedure undertaken by police officers when responding to victims of harassment via email or mobile phone. Dealing with online harassment is difficult due to the fact that people share computers and are tech savvy enough to use VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) that throw their IP location to far reaching corners of the world.

At the holy-shit-I-just-want-to-be-protected level, officers may assist you in applying for a PVO (Personal Violence Order), which can prevent a certain person from harassing you, but this is a lengthy procedure and requires you to be present in a court of law. Additionally, it only prevents one person from harassing you and does not stop them harassing others in the same way.

Our impotence to fight racism isn’t just confined to trolls, but rather compounded by a Scott Morrison inspired Government that attempts to demonize asylum seekers by calling them “economic migrants”. Our own Attorney General George Brandis floated the idea to remove what little protection we presently have (see Section 18C Racial Discrimination Act) because “people have the right to be bigots”. Luckily that didn’t come to fruition.

To say our discrimination legislation is in need of a refresh in an understatement— it was drawn up in a time when our Indigenous population was being referred to as “fauna” and refused the vote. Racism in Australia is an ugly shrouded reality, one generally muffled and confined to family homes and the boozy BBQs. In Australian culture racism is like smoking, just because it’s not allowed in public spaces doesn’t mean a huge section of the population is willing to give it up.

Media and law enforcement should be reacting to online discrimination with the same vehement opposition afforded to public transport bigots with equally, if not harsher penalties. Unlike Sue Wilkins (aka Karen Bailey), there are literally tens of thousands of bigots lining up on social media to offer their real names, smiling faces, and Bali holiday snaps in stark juxtaposition with their hate-filled opinions of people who are culturally, religiously, sexually, physically and politically different minded. To the rest of us, these people are achingly awkward and produce uncomfortable giggles and smirks. It’s hard to laugh at discrimination, but easy to guffaw at nutjobs who are losing their shit on public transport. Poor fools. They’re in a way the victims, to be honest. Victims of a sensationalist media and fear-striking Government that wants them to think they’re in need of saving from the unwashed, coloured mob.

Of course it is naïve to believe that discrimination will fade away and see us living in a harmonic utopia simply on the back of harsher penalties and legislation. It takes a multi-pronged and sustained effort of education, shifts in media and entertainment, endorsement from influential people, denouncement from politicians, and better guidance from parents to see bigots change their ways. But first things first, we need 21st century protections against abuse – if racism and hate can keep up with the times we need to make sure so can we. And if heaven forbid, you ever find yourself chucking a wobbly at some Asian on a hot train on your way home from 28 failed job applications, just make sure you say sorry and pretend your name is Richard Head.

Teens arrested over racist attack on bus full of Jewish school students

August 7, 2014 – 7:49AM

Breaking news reporter

Five teenagers have been arrested over a racist attack on a bus full of young Jewish students as they travelled home from school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Victor Dominello, the Minister for Citizenship and Communities, said he was “deeply disturbed” by reports that a group of teenagers had terrorised students as young as five years old as their school bus travelled between Randwick and Bondi Junction on Wednesday afternoon.

Police allege the offenders got on the bus on Darley Road in Randwick about 3.50pm and, as the bus travelled towards Bondi Junction, they racially taunted and made physical threats to the children.

The children’s parents later told police that the offenders, who were possibly drunk at the time, yelled insults such as “kill the Jews” and “free Palestine” during their assault, which one police officer described as an “horrific” incident of bullying and intimidation.

Police said the children were all aged between five and 12 years old and, while they were not physically harmed, they were traumatised by the event. About 30 children from Jewish schools in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, including Mount Sinai College and Emanuel School, were on the bus at the time.

The alleged offenders got off the bus on Bronte Road at Bondi Junction. A number of children called their parents, who met them at Bondi Junction and called police.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said five teenagers were arrested at 3.30am on Thursday and were questioned by police about the incident. They were then released into the custody of their parents. No charges have been laid and the police investigation is ongoing.

Mr Dominello said public abuse and intimidation on the grounds of race or religion was “deplorable”.

“The people of NSW will never excuse it and those who are alleged to have subjected school children as young as five to this anti-Semitic attack should face the full force of the law,” he said.

“We are lucky to live in one of the most harmonious multicultural societies in the world but we must never be complacent. It is incumbent upon all citizens to expose those whose actions are based on racial hatred and who seek to import overseas conflict onto our streets.”

The attack is believed to have occurred on a State Transit Authority bus that had been hired out privately for the school run. Police are investigating why the bus stopped to pick up the teenage thugs along Darley Road.

The bus was also believed to have CCTV cameras on board, and police will review that footage, which has not yet been publicly released.

Police said in a statement that officers from the Eastern Suburbs local area command were investigating the incident.

“While the event is not believed to be targeted, police have confirmed appropriate action will be taken against the alleged offenders once found, and any type of racial abuse, especially where young children are involved, will not be tolerated,” the statement said.

The teenagers are described as being aged between 15 and 17 years old and “of Caucasian appearance”.
