  1. Perhaps he’d like to experience rape first-hand and decide for himseslf what the big deal is. We could up the ante a little and send over a guy who was HIV positive. Always a bonus. Might give him a new perspective on the topic. Not that I’d condone any of it happening of course.

  2. Rape will never be stopped by asking the victim to change their behaviour, to cover themselves, to not get drunk, to not be alone, to not be too pretty, to not be too nice as it could be seen as an invitation. Rape can happen regardless of whether you play by all the imaginary rules or not. These rules/guidelines don’t prevent rape, all they do is move the conversation away from the perpetrator and onto the victim. The conversation then becomes why didn’t this person just follow the rules? Not why did this perpetrator choose to take away the basic, of human rights that of the right to their own body.
Rape is the choice of the perpetrator – if we want to stop rape the conversation needs to focus on the rapist, not the victim.

  3. Amanda – read the list of rules again. It’s actually quite amusing, because it does that. It points out that to stop rape, men need to stop raping. I do think it’s a bit silly to say ‘women should be able to wear what they want and walk where they want at any time they want’, men also have to some times choose to be safe where there is risk. But, by the same token, women SHOULD be able to do what they want, and not be afraid. And no woman ever deserves to be, or asks to be, raped, EVER.

  4. God, what is it about these pathetic young wannabe comedians, who think that comedy = saying terrible things without guilt.

  5. This is disgusting. It made me physically ill and sick to my stomach to read it. I’m trying to find something polite to say, but honest all I can think of is a big F___ YOU to this guy.

What do YOU think about this?
