To the bigots, everything not white is Muslim. The edl called the Taj Mahal a mosque, an American bigot said South Korea was an Islamic country after the virginia tech massacre (He was an Islamic robot, one commentator said). This is just one more example.
And then there’s the infinite number of times that Sikhs are labelled as “Muslims”.
Reminds me of the famous story from the Crusades. When the Crusaders arrived to “liberate” Jerusalem they were greeted by men wearing long robes and turbans, whom they proceeded to massacre.
Only later did they discover these were Orthodox priests and Jewish scholars.
