King Dick?

Ash's Machiavellian Bloggery

Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York;

So. Three years on. Tony Abbott has singlehandedly changed the mood of this nation. Where once we thought us a fair and compassionate nation, Abbott has turned it seems 58% of the nation into thinking that refugees are illegal. To highlight this further, the coalition recently announced some totally bullshit announcement designed to please their current support base, the small but loud and bitter number of xenophobes that you find in any nation.

Not once has the media ever really tried to question Abbott’s policy. Oh they may have quietly mentioned the view of Indonesia, but it was always presented in a way that that somehow is not an issue and after all Howard did it in the before times.

It was in this environment, this bitter watchlist making environment, talk back hating environment, media…

  1. Abbott & his acolytes have built on the work that was already started by that mean-spirited dog whistler Howard. They continue to encourage all this nastiness with their lies aided & abetted by the complicit MSM. The future looks bleak if they take charge.

  2. So it’s ok to suggest that Abott is “king dick”, but it’s not ok to call Julia Gillard “Queen cunt” ? I’m confused.

  3. Nicole what the hell are you on about? The only person talking about genitalia is you, you have missed the point entirely.

  4. I very much admire Julia Gillard and support her on a lot of things and she is astronomical units ahead of Abbott when it comes to the choice of PM for our nations’ future but looking at the ALP’s policy on refugees fleeing persecution (among a few other things) I just despair at where we are. I wish the government would take the land here and adopt onshore processing explaining to the xenophobes and racists that there’s nothing to fear and put things in perspective – persauding the “western Sydney mob” (for want of a better term ) rather than pandering to their fear and hatred.

    I think this mistreatment of suffering humans to appease our worst instincts and groups is something future historians, future people, will look back upon with baffled shame and disgust. How could we?

  5. Sigh. Sorry all. Typo fix again. That’s :

    • It is much cheaper and safer to put them into a chartered 737 from Indonesia and Malaysia and fly them here once a week. So the costs of deploying naval vessels to save them is eliminated, so is any danger to our naval personnel.

      After all we get 30 000 visa overstayers a year coming to Australia on regular passenger flights.

      It is not illegal to seek refuge in another country. There is nothing in international law which specifies the mode of travel to seek asylum. We apprehend, arrest and deport people smugglers and always have done.

      So go away. Your question is irrelevant.

    • Well of course it’s not right, Indonesia is doing nothing to help the situation, I think they need to stop avoiding the situation, because it’s all happening in their country the people smuggling. But most Muslims are regular immigrants going through the regular channels so it’s not really anything to do with Asylum seekers. It’s people like Jason Toon that are a worry. He and his double chin might actually organise a phamphlet or a poster. I’d be worried if it had high mug on it.
