Australia Day Hoax Sparks Anti-Gillard Citizens Misogyny

Well the rumour is doing it’s rounds once again. It usually starts a couple of months out from Australia Day, January 26th. Apparently Julia Gillard is single-handedly going to change the name to ‘Citizens Day’. Apparently. Despite no evidence in the slightest, the bogans pick it up and run with it.

In a month where misogyny has been the hot word, if nothing else there seems to be a sharp increase in it on social media. Sit back and shake your head at the inbred hicks who have joined the page ‘Fuck Julia Gillard’.

  1. But then again in their outburst against Julia that is not based on facts but based on being a complete weak and stupid SOB, I guess some hate women including their own mother?

  2. I love trolling these pages when they come up on facebook, it’s like being in a room full of monkeys throwing faeces at each other.

  3. Though some of the facebook comments above may not have been expressed in an appropriate mannor, the fact that many schools are no longer allowed to raise the Australian flag or sing our national anthem are true. With the larger presence of multi-cultural people, it may seem not seem outrageous for the flag to not be raised. I still believe that this is our country, and taking away the Australian culture from the children in schools by not even allowing them to learn the Anthem is extremely ridiculous. Though there is no evidence for ‘citizens day’ and I am not having a ‘dig’ at Julia Guillard, there is the evidence showing how schools are not allowed to raise the flag or sing the anthem. In my belief, it is ridiculous to restrict and loose our culture for the sake of other people who chose to come to Australia, but do not want to learn about the Australian culture.

    • “the fact that many schools are no longer allowed to raise the Australian flag or sing our national anthem are true. ”

      Which schools are these?

“there is the evidence showing how schools are not allowed to raise the flag or sing the anthem”

      Then please, demonstrate this evidence.

“In my belief, it is ridiculous to restrict and loose our culture for the sake of other people who chose to come to Australia, but do not want to learn about the Australian culture.”

And in my belief, it’s ridiculous to say that “many” schools are doing something, yet name none of them, and talk about evidence of these school’s crimes, and then don’t present any.

Please, let me know of how exactly multiculturalism is effecting you, or causing you to lose your culture in anyway.

      • There are actually quite a few schools throughout Sydney and other areas that have a high rate of immigrant (mainly Muslim) residents that don’t fly the Australian flag because it causes problems with the residents. Read a newspaper or something.

    • Anon. Not a single public school in this country does not raise the Australian (or British Flag with Stars Attached) Flag out the front of its school. Nor does any school refuse to sing the Australian National anthem. Those claims are sourced entirely from chain emails.

      • I work in Australia at a secondary school which is specifically for students learning English as a second language, to provide them the language skills to continue their education in a high school or elsewhere. Our students mainly consist of migrants, refugees and overseas students. At every assembly we sing the national anthem both first and second verses. These students know the words better than most Australians (particularly the second verse). The students are happy to participate in Christmas activities and regularly do (Muslim students included). Maybe it is true what you say of mainstream schools not singing the national anthem but I would be very interested to see the evidence.

    • Still wondering how raising a flag contributes to educational outcomes.

Still wondering how singing a musically mediocre 19th century tune engenders anything except boredom.

    • Anon: Schools not allowed to fly the flag? Are you even an Australian? Do you not know of the special funding that was provided BY the government to ensure that Australian schools have an Australian flag flying out the front? Do you not know of the PACER subsidy program and the vast amounts of government funding that continue to go into civics and citizenship education at our schools? Ask someone who actually teaches civics (say, like me) to get some facts. Stop distressing yourself with gossip.

    • How exactly is Gillard anymore a liar than any other politician?

Also, how exactly are Muslims effecting you in any way shape or form? Have you actually ever met a Muslim in real life, or just read abotu them on blogs?

      • She is a liar, everything she has said and done was a lie, open your eyes and obviously your mind. As for muslims, i now assume you are in uni or are a muslim to ask that question. They are at war with every race and religon in the world, this concerns me greatly, however on top of that i was in sydney when the scum decided to riot and assault our police, they ran past and knocked my wife to the ground who was just shopping on a saturday morning,

        • LOL you are a muslim, only mus rats say that. who gives a rats asse what happened hundreds of years ago, you can not justify violence now with violence in the past. Are you serious?? wake up

        • lol, I’m about as Aussie (Anglican, too) as they come dude! Anyway, as the US is the bastion of Christianity, their continued warmongering in the name of god begs to differ…

        • “She is a liar, everything she has said and done was a lie”

Really? Everything? Is her name even Julia Gillard? Is she even the leader of Labor Party, or a secret liberal party member?

Now that we’ve gotten the hypoerbole out of our system, please tell me exactly how you know she lies more than any other politician. Give specific examples.

“As for muslims, i now assume you are in uni or are a muslim to ask that question.”

And I assume you’ve never met a Muslim in real life. Your assumption is wrong (Not in Uni, and Anglican as well! Got the confirmation, baptism records, and wedding photos to prove it!)

“They are at war with every race and religon in the world, this concerns me greatly, ”

So…..all Muslims are at war with everyone, right? Then, why aren’t the Muslims in Australia killing all nonbelievers all the time? I work with plenty of Muslims and they’ve never even raised a knife to me.
In Melbourne, there’s not been any riots, despite a huge Muslims population. Why is that?

“however on top of that i was in sydney when the scum decided to riot and assault our police, they ran past and knocked my wife to the ground who was just shopping on a saturday morning,”

So because some Muslims pushed your wife, you decided to hate them all? I got assaulted by two males ten years ago, do I have to hate all white people too? I hope not, I quite like myself.

And for the record, things you ignored:

          1) How exactly is Gillard anymore a liar than any other politician?

          2) Have you actually ever met a Muslim in real life, or just read abotu them on blogs?

        • “LOL you are a muslim, only mus rats say that.”

funny, I thought a Muslim is someone who follows the teaching of the prophet Muhammed. Apparently I was wrong, it actually means someone who disagrees with this idiot in anyway shape or form.

Tell me, exactly how many Muslims have you met for you to know that when people say the above argument they’re definately Muslims?

” who gives a rats asse what happened hundreds of years ago, you can not justify violence now with violence in the past”

Yes, because Christian violence is all in the past. It just never ever happens in modern times.

Except y’know, Northern Ireland (Catholics vs Protestants-current),

Uganda and neighbouring coutnies (The LRA-Christian terrorists-current),

the guy who tried to blow up the Atlanta Olympics, as well as lesbian cars and abortion clinic (1996, Atlanta),

the Manmasi National Christian Army (MNCA) in India, forcinbly coverting Hindus at gun point (2009),

The NLFT also in India, shooting non christian leaders way back in the ancietn years of 2000,

Ander Behring Breivik in Norway (2011)

The Evangelical Shaman murderers of Peru (2011)

And that’s jsut the high profile attacks, ignoring the many gay hate attacks, abortion clinic bombings and other hate crimes which are occurring in the neame of my religion.

I love Christianity-love my religion, but honestly, we don’t get to say our religion is pure, and all the others are the bad ones.

  4. Why am I not surprised from the over reaction?

Lets face it even if it was called citizen day it will still be treated the same way by these people. Getting shit faced and complaining there way of life (being privileged) is being attacked because of a day name’s change. Then return to the internet to complain about the immigrants who they won’t meet and the homeless/elderly who they won’t help.

  5. At least those people above stand up for what they believe in, don’t bend over backwards because someone else says its ‘politically incorrect’.

    • Alex, if people are going to stand up for an event that doesn’t exist, can at least be cool and interesting? Instead of complaining about Australia becoming Citizens Day (Boooooring), how about you compaign for the end of Unicorn vs Pony wrestling (Woohoo!)? Both as nonexistant as each other, but one so much more interesting.

    • wow your awesome, someone made spelling mistake and you pointed it out. Go to the head of the class your awesomeness is uncompared

      • The correlation between poor spelling and grammar with an uneducated mind has long been proven, as you are so eloquently proving…

        • Ralphski, the reason why we pick up on the spelling is to highlight the irony that these people can’t write correctly and coherently and yet they criticise immigrants for not being able to communicate properly.

Grammar: it’s the difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you’re shit.

And Alex, don’t use the PC argument as an excuse for their disgusting display of racism and bigotry – that just pisses me off no end. NO ONE here is being politically correct for the sake of being politically correct mate. Saying that you admire them for that reason is just a poor, crappy excuse to applaud their behaviour.

If you admire their sentiments, then just say it. But praising their supposed courage for standing up for their own beliefs is just a cowardly way of giving them your support, without directly agreeing with their sentiments.

  6. “”At least those people above stand up for what they believe in, don’t bend over backwards because someone else says its ‘politically incorrect’.””

They believe and stand up in something that has no proof of happening at all. Do you understand how dumb that sounds reading it? Why not stand up for A REAL CAUSE?

Oh wait that would take time and effort, fuck that might as well complain about something that doesn’t exist instead!

  7. At least they are protecting their most prized day. Nobody will ever take away their opportunity to don a Chinese made flag from the $2 shop as a cape and get completely shitfaced on terrible beer. It’s completely different to every weekend…really. Straya mate etc etc

  8. I think we need to consider involuntary post birth abortion to be performed on these ‘people’. They are not worth the space and clean air to keep alive. I’ll volunteer to turn the key on the lethal injection units.

    • Not funny. Horridly repulsive as the scumbags posting those are; they too are human. Perhaps with some education and different life experiences and circumstances they’ll become better people and ashamed of the vile wrongness they’re vomiting up above? .

  9. I’d actually be more concerned about xenophobes with an Anglo-centric picture of Australian history changing it to “Australians of Anglo-Saxon descent Day”.

  10. Now this rumour is on a Parramatta Eels supporters’ website:
    http://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/govenment-contemplates-changing-australia-day-to-citizen-day

The blogger claims he heard it on ABC radio. He writes: “They say that many ethnic communities have been complaining that they don’t feel that Australia Day is theirs to celebrate and that Australia day alienates them.”
Well that’s just gotta be an outright lie, doesn’t it?
…and you should see the comments :/

    Who ARE these people??!

    • Anyone feeling alienated csn only br because they obviously DON’T consider themselves Australian and are feeling uncomfortable being in a country surrounded by people proud to celebrate their nation snd culture… Join in or fuck off!!

      • Most intelligent Aussies opt out of mindless nationalism and spend the day at home, or go out for a quiet meal or a drink, or catch up with rels. You don’t notice them because they don’t wear $2 shop patriot tat and they don’t abuse minorities or get themselves pissed and glass their mates.

  11. “menaplause?” LOL. Pathetic, horrible comments from pathetic horrible people. Can only assume / hope most of those spewing such excrement were drunk / high at the time. Sadly, it s only too plausible that many of them are that stupid and sad – but, really, on the internet who knows?

Disgusting and nasty and wrong comments anyhow from people who fit all those adjectives too well, most likely.

  12. It’s most ironic that these imbeciles are disgusted by the supposed revoked national anthem and flag raising in schools, when their education level suggests they haven’t been schooled at all. Their concerns are completely in vain because their children are also likely to be halfwit dropouts, so in a way this doesn’t affect these people at all.

    • “bitch”, “ranga fuck”, “dumbest cunt”, “slut”, “mutt”, “mutt hole”, “stupid bitch”, “you’re the reason why women should stay in the kitchen”, “lezzo bitch”, “dumb bitch”, etc.

      Nah, no misogyny there.

        • Some of the comments were just plain offensive and could have applied to men. I challenge you to find an equal amount of bile and vitriol directed at Tony Abbott on social media.

He is not called bitch, whore, slut, kitchen hand etc on the daily.

        • These comments are enough. Note that MALE politicians do not get held up to the same “standards” (which are not standards at all)

          Now let me see –

Unmarried Prime Ministers – John McEwen was a widower and remained unmarried. Shouldn’t he have married just to make the bogots happy?

It is well known that a certain Prime Minister who was same sex attracted was told by the Coalition partner that he was either to marry or he would not get the support of the then Country Party. So he did.

Childless Prime Ministers – Stanley Bruce, Ben Chifley, John McEwen, James Scullin,

Harold Holt had no children of his own but adopted his wife Zara’s three sons from her previous marriage.

ARE THEY “BARREN” OR MENAPLAUSAL (sic)? Yes or No?

None of our previous Prime Ministers could have been called film stars either looks-wise (maybe Whitlam and Watson, Gorton before his war injuries) but they are seldom criticised on their looks. If they are it is still their policies and performances which garner the most attention.

          Australia needs to grow up.

  13. Julia Gillard is a liar. The big one was about no carbon tax. Then about not having a victory speech prepared prior to backstabbing Kevin Rudd. There are many other examples but, as leftists, you probably wouldn’t read them anyway. 2 points – 1. Julia Gillard doesn’t lie about everything but ceratinly does lie enough to qualify as a liar and 2. If I call Julia Gillard a liar it is becuase she IS a liar not becuase I am misogynist. Fair’s fair too. The person who created this hoaw is also a liar. There you go I called somebody a liar and I didn’t even know their gender.

    • Julia Gillard is a liar.

No she’s not. Circumstances change, and the so-called “tax” is actually a pricing mechanism to enable future economic initiatives in a low-carbon global economy.

From the Courier-Mail, not exactly a leftie newspaper.

“JULIA Gillard did not lie to us before the last election. A lie is a deliberate statement of a falsehood. The liar is very conscious of the misleading nature of what they are saying.

This was not the case when, in a pre-election interview with The Australian’s Paul Kelly, our Prime Minister said: “I don’t rule out the possibility of legislating a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, a market-based mechanism. I rule out a carbon tax.”

Then came the election result no one foresaw.”

      http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/opinion/why-julia-gillard-didnt-lie-about-her-carbon-tax-plans-before-election/story-e6frerdf-1226421929786

Then about not having a victory speech prepared prior to backstabbing Kevin Rudd.

So bloody what? Julia Gillard is a lawyer – she can make an ex tempore speech with both eyes closed. She doesn’t need to prepare one.

Rudd was ill, lost focus and started to make errors. He would have found even simple routine tasks difficult. Plus he had a difficult temperament and was hard to work with.

You don’t come out in public and say that, but that was the case.

If I call Julia Gillard a liar it is becuase she IS a liar not becuase I am misogynist.

      But you are a fool.

    • I’m not a huge fan of Gillard. For me, she is simply the better of two evils, and the possibility of an Abbott-led government should really send shivers down the spine of every Australian. That is, it would if many current supporters of his actually got of their butts and looked a bit closer at Abbott’s philosophical underpinnings and intended policy frameworks. But they don’t. That’s because Abbott and, more importantly (his puppetmaster and chief propagandist), Peta Credlin no doubt rely on Goebbels’ disingenious yet accurate observation that “people don’t read books”. Anyway Brad, here’s something Tones once said, something that he has been desperately trying to wish away into history, something he does not wish his supporters to see…

  14. Reading the above is hilarious. The top is people commenting on how Gillard is fucking the country. The bottom is people asking for them to die, to have kids aborted etc etc etc etc.
Yes, comment away, and bring yourself down to those levels. I will just be safe in my knowledge, that Gillard will not be prime minister within the year, and the so called misogynist – changed to suit the dictionary, i mean gillard, wont be in power.

And thats what angers you all the most. And it’s great knowing it. I wont even come back to this page, cause I know it angers you that she is doomed in the next election

  15. I think it’s really funny that when people that know they are wrong and up against the wall the make fun of others spelling.. It just proves you have no argument.

And now to sit back and wait for all the back lash from these Gillard lovers. 🙂

      • Bit of a generalisation I believe, TAB?

Stop scraping the bottom of the barrel with lowbrow comments like these and get on with the job. You’ve already lost a heap of readers because of this.

        • It’s a fair comment, I’m Addressing the ongoing problem of these horrible and childish comebacks.. but sadly what more can you expect from the labor party and there thralls.

        • It woul be just as true to say that it is interesting that when a bigot like yourself is called up on their sexism, they look for the most petty criticism, and ignore the general complaint about the hatred.

ie “You’re a racist, a sexist, and you can’t spell!”
          “Typical leftie, criticising spelling!”

          Speaks volumes, dunnit?

  16. It will be the last thing Julia does.. She would want to hope she has enough immigrants behind her cause she won’t have any Aussie votes if she goes ahead with this one.. Aussies have accepted immigration, and are generally not racist .. But take away OUR day/ the one day we show how proud we are to be Australians and get together to celebrate out nation and our culture… That may change more than Gillard realises!!!!! My whole attitude may change…. What other country is as accepting of immigration, fights racism, allows citizenship… And pays people once they move to the country ?? Julia… Every nation has limits and you are about to push Australians to theirs !!! I love our multi cultural nation but am also proud to be Australian and look forward to he one day of the year that we can truly express out culture….

  17. Bunch of bean heads.. It’s not even true. NOBODY is trying to change it to ‘Citizens Day’ . One person writes something on Facebook and the whole world believes it. Try googling ‘Julia Gillard Citizens day’ and see what comes up..

  18. You people commenting on this rubbish and bitching about people standing up for their country are the true inbred hicks. I have no problem with multiculturalism but there needs to be a line firmly in place that allows us to keep OUR way of life. If a whole heap of Aussies moved to Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan or one of the other countries that the majority of these immigrants originate from they are not going to change anything for us, so why are we changing our way of life for them?

    • But nobody is suggesting changing any way of life for anyone, can you actually read?

Stop believing every bogus rumour you read online just so you can get upset at something. Enjoy Australia Day ffs.

  19. Adam, first off the whole point of this article is that these uneducated bogans are believing a stupid hoax and blowing it way out of proportion with illiterate, idiotic and often racist comments. These people are bogans.
Also, may I ask: how are we changing our “culture” (I use the term culture very loosely for a 200 year old colony) for any foreigners? Do you see women in Australia being made to cover up their arms? Do you see pork or beef being banned from restaurants? No. Our way of life here has not been impacted by immigrants in any way.

  20. Where do all these retards live? I don’t know anyone who would speak like this. It’s ok to be proud of your country but just posting crap like this so you sound tough. Most of these tow rags can’t even spell and their talking about going to school?? If they did maybe they would know why it is called Australia Day and that it can’t be changed.

  21. One of my friends at school is Muslim and he is proud Australian, he may not celebrate Christmas, but he participates in any Christmas activities. Every year he travels three hours to Perth with his family to see the Australia day fireworks. He gets racially abused by other Muslims at our school because he does this. They say that it offends them and that not just Australia day, but Christmas, Easter and ANZAC day should be abandoned. In fact recently on Heirisson Island in Perth there has been a protest by the Indigenous population saying that Australia day is offensive. They complain that because it was the day our forefathers arrived, and ‘invaded their land’. Finally, my view is that if you come to Australia for a better life, then don’t complain about our culture. We supply you with food, money and jobs, so if you don’t like our culture, then fine but just keep it quiet, don’t go complaining about it in public.
You are not forced to celebrate these holidays and no one can tell you otherwise, but accept the fact that WE as Australian born citizens celebrate most of these holidays and are proud to be Aussies.

  22. So many hoaxes! How dumb can we possibly be?

Carbon tax was a total hoax, of course – Gillard vowed she’d never introduce one, and she didn’t. Oh wait, yes she did.

And then there was the ‘hoax’ that she stabbed Kevin Rudd in the back and stole his job, which didn’t happen, of course. Oh wait, yes it did.

    Next gillard hoax??
