A Current Affair on Facebook – where asylum seeker haters gather

Some proud Aussies strut their vile stuff on A Current Affair‘s Facebook page.

First Lee kicks off with the tired old argumentum ad pensionem though he/she and fellow tub-thumping senior citizen advocates really couldn’t give a rats’s arse about the elderly unless they can be used to demonise asylum seekers.

Scott likes to parade his spelling deficiencies to his mate “Maltese Demon”, who is obviously hiding out in a caravan park while being sought by the law.

Maybe Muzz wants asylum seekers to join “Maltese Demon” at the caravan park for a nice seaside holiday?

Sorry to puncture your illusion balloon Dana old fruit, but it is NOT illegal to seek asylum in another country. Now go away and boil your head.

We can just imagine why his son was told to leave…

A conga-line of idiotic and inaccurate comments then follow, headed by self-appointed knight Morris, who isn’t really interested in the homeless, with Ted Birtles bringing up to the rear as he pretends to be worried about our soldiers.

Fact is, our troops have as decent conditions in the field as can be managed, and they are deployed in war zones for as short a time as possible. They then can return to their comfortable and safe homes (usually Defence Force housing) back in Australia.

Asylum seekers live in cramped prison-like confinement sometimes for years while they await processing.

Just a sample of the hateful and ignorant racism and bigotry by hateful ignorant racists and bigots

  1. It seems most true Aussies with backbone have opinions to. If you love these criminals, go live in their country and help them there! Au is a generous society, look at the commentators at this site, we put up with a lot and probably paying these guys to sit around and judge those who pay high taxes and have an opinion on where the money is best spent.
Most of us want things done the right way and when we see criminals trying to take us (those who are paying for this) for fools we have to do something. Obviously the commentators here are not high tax payers, well maybe not paying any at all seeing they think we can just do handout after handout.
What would you have done without cheap internet access?
Send them all to a place where they may be wanted- Haiti, clean up and become a citizen, JAPAN, could be there helping rebuild after their tragedy and earn a place in a society, that is not their dream. They love the handout system.

Yes I wish the government had supplied my grandmother with an air conditioner, she paid taxes for 60 years and got nothing but what she earned. Seems to be a novel concept for you in judgement.

Got to get to work and pay for all this. I will be contributing over $150,000 to the spending spree this year, ENJOY!!!!!

    • “If you love these criminals, go live in their country and help them there! ”

How exactly are asylum seekers criminals, considering it is not illegal to seek asylum in Australia?

“Send them all to a place where they may be wanted- Haiti, clean up and become a citizen, ”

Firstly-who is saying all asylum seekers aren’t wanted here? What makes them unwanted? Secondly, you think Australia can’t afford asylum seekers, but Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, can afford them? I bet you’re the sort of person who thinks poor people should pay more tax than the rich as well, am I wrong?

      “They love the handout system.”

Have you actually ever met an asylum seeker? Like a real life asylum seeker? I’ve yet to find one whose main goal isn’t to find a job in Australia, and who isn’t high resistant to any form of welfare.

“Yes I wish the government had supplied my grandmother with an air conditioner, she paid taxes for 60 years and got nothing but what she earned.”

Great-well would you be fine with her livign in an institution, in the mdidle of the desert, with no freedom, no ability to decide anything for herself, and not allowed to have any decision in what she does every single day, and have no influence over how long she stays in there? Would you like her to stay in a place which Australian of the Year Patrick McGorry has said is a breeding grown for mental illness, most particularly depression with suicidal ideation, and post traumatic stress disorder? Is that a situation you would like your grandmother to be put in, just so she can have an air conditioner? Let me know.

“I will be contributing over $150,000 to the spending spree this year, ENJOY!!!!!”

Yep, totally agree. It’s too expensive. If only we could end detention, like every other country in the world has done, the cost of the budget would at most be 10% of the current cost. A 90% reduction-you don’t complain about where your taxes are going, asylum seekers don’t have significant mental health issues and can actually get out and work for a living-seems like a win-win, doesn’t it?

    • “Yes I wish the government had supplied my grandmother with an air conditioner, she paid taxes for 60 years and got nothing but what she earned. Seems to be a novel concept for you in judgement.”

It fucking shits me up the wall when people say shit like this. It’s bullshit.

Your grandmother was supplied a police force to keep her safe, a public health system to help her when she is sick, public education, roads that she drove on and welfare services like the pension and dole.
      .
Even if your grandmother never used any of these services she benefited from them indirectly. You are benefiting from other people taxes and the services they provide even if you never use them. They create a safer/better society for everyone and are a large part of what makes this country a good one.

People with entitled individualistic views like your own have a negative impact on society and in general make this country a worse place. Good work.

      Also what cheap internet?

    • Strangely enough, most pensioners I know have air conditioning and heating. Usually they have managed to save up for them (air conditioning and heating are a lot cheaper these days thanks to the strong dollar) sometimes they get these appliances via the generosity of their children.

Also the government is providing all pensioners and others on fixed incomes with money to assist them with the cost of power while the carbon tax beds down. As energy providers realise how they can benefit by developing renewables, these costs will stabilise and eventually go down for all consumers.

So how about helping your parents out in the meantime? Or is your confected concern for older Australians just a whole lot of hot air?

  2. No one controls what they are born with and no one has the right to judge another for wanting to make their life better. You have to remember that when it comes to risking your life and floating on what loosely resembles a boat across a sea to a new country its desperation that pushes you and not greed. These people are running from terrors that we would have only seen in the movies. Think about it, how bad would it have to be to make you risk the same? Now consider that your standards are much higher than these peoples so now think how bad it must be for them to do this. And when they get here they are bottled up in these camps. You know who else had camps, the Nazis. It might be better than what they had back home or it might be worse but its no life.

Swap shoes with one of these people for just a day and then tell me they are living a life of luxury.

I don’t want to abuse people for having their opinion and I can see how some people think that boat people should be hung and quartered, shot out of the water and sent back. But I really think that if you had all the information not just bits and pieces you wouldn’t see boat people as a threat to your way of life and more like a chance to meet and live with people from a different world.

What do YOU think about this?
