    • That cracks me up ๐Ÿ™‚

@mindmadeup: I’ve got to point out that there’s a bit of hypocrisy afloat when you stereotype a group of people by calling them racist, right?

It’s like saying “God, I hate Asians; they’re so racist”.

      The ironing is delicious….

      • You have to admit, that is a fair call by Ev. Stereotyping people by way of their locality is quite prejudiced. A similar statement would be “All people living in Coburg are terrorists”.

      • I agree we should not stereo-type an entire area and its residents but it is rather hard to get that dreadful stain that has befallen on Australian history from ones mind when hearing the word Cronulla!

        • It’s still stereotyping. Like saying “All Muslims are terrorists”. There is no reason to stereotype those from the Shire just as there is no reason reason to stereotype a Muslim based on 9/11. I do think TAB either owes an apology to a lot of people from the Shire or does some explaining (backed up by stats of course).

        • @WarriorTom: You sais “TAB either owes an apology to a lot of people from the Shire”

I’m a fan of TAB, but I’ve been out of the loop recently (for various reasons). Have the good people at TAB been Shire bashing? I’m surprised, and disappointed. Can you point me to an article?

        • I think the present article will do. Isn’t one instance of labelling entire group of people as a bunch of dickheads enough, based on where they live? Or does one have to make the same assumption more than once in order to be guilty?

        • I couldn’t disagree more WT and others.

MMU is not saying everyone from the Shire is a racist, merely that these two are and that they come from The Shire (wherever that is – I’m assuming it’s not a Hobbit reference).

The inference is that there are a disproprotionate number of racist comments coming from people in this area. While I agree some independent stats would be a useful tool to back up this comment, I’d also suggest MMU sees enough of this stuff to make an informed assessment rather than just basing their opinion on something they saw on ACA/TT.

        • Greg. . . one stat that stands alone is the Shire was the unfortunate host of the Cronulla riot. That alone has stained its name, it is also home to the ethnic cleansing wannabe Darrin Hodges.
In defence of the Shire only 2% of the electorate cast their vote his way and he probably bought their votes with 5 cents each.

        • There are several authors here at TAB. I’d like to apologise on behalf of the TAB team, and I’ll leave the comment made just as a reference point.

          Two points:

Having spent a large amount of time in the Shire, and having perused literally thousands of screenshots and profiles of racists, I would like to say that a large percentage of discriminatory attitudes come from dominantly white areas such as the Shire.
However, I agree with the people commenting here – it is unfair to label people coming from the Shire as automatically racist. I don’t believe the TAB author who made that comment was suggesting that, but I can see how it could have been taken that way.

All due apologies to those who were offended.

  1. This wannabe Ken and Barbie plastic brain drains should be put back into the box and returned to the factory marked “defective”!

  2. @mindmadeup. A significant number of terrorists have been shown to come from Middle East countries, just as you claim a significant amount of racist comments to come from the Shire. Yet if one was to suggest so openly then I am sure anyone of your authors would be frothing at the mouth. Please do something to rectify the narrow mindedness you have shown here (i.e. by editing your article, retracting the applicable comment etc) or risk looking like a genuine hypocrite in the eyes of not just those who may side with you (such as myself) but also of those you profess to out for their bigotry.

    • Hear, hear.

I actually didn’t realise the MMU is an editor. And although I’m not particularly angry about the comment, what you’ve said, WT, is very correct.

And now for me to be a hypocrite*: let’s not let a flippant comment get out of control.

      * that’s hypocritical of me becuase I can be pretty vocal about causal racism.

  3. I am so ashamed right now. I come from a mixed background with a Father that migrated in the 50s from Europe. My mother is Aboriginal & I love being an Aussie but my goodness. These people exist…

  4. OMG, a barbie that isn’t white, blonde and blue eyed (forget the fact that they have been around since the 60s)! How do good, hard working Aussies put up with such blatent discrimination? Imagine going into a shop and being forced to see a doll that is not the same colour as you!

  5. Why does she, or he for that matter, deserve to be publicly shamed? I’m not saying I agree with their attitudes at all, but it looks to me as though both of the above examples were status updates on their own Facebook pages, only visible to those who choose to be friends with them.
Would a more diplomatic approach have not been to debate with these people on their own PRIVATE pages and/or then/just delete their friendships?
I also find it pathetic that someone has done this anonymously. These two people have had their privacy invaded merely for having opinions different to our own.

      • So does somebody here stalk people’s facebook accounts until they find something inappropriate and then display personal information and photos for the world to see, whilst remaining anonymous themselves, despite the above comments probably only made in the first place with the intention of never going outside the circle of people who choose to befriend them????

      • Man, I would love nothing more than for there to be ONE race…. The human race, but whoever has invaded these people’s privacy has just opened up another issue altogether.
As much as I would love to change people like Stew and Michelle’s outlook, NOBODY has the right to invade someone’s privacy like that and virtually punish them for having opinions!!
This is Australia where freedom of speech is allowed, regardless of how offensive it may be. I hear your cause guys, but this is almost as bad as racism itself. With the amount of extremists on BOTH sides of this ugly fence, I sincerely hope no harm comes to these 2 people.
Do they even know their names, faces and personal information have been defamed like this?

        • Privacy doesn’t exist in a public forum.

Freedom of speech is not protected “regardless of how offensive it may be”. See hate speech and anti vilification laws.

Their names, faces and personal information (all of which they made publicly available) were defamed by nobody but themselves. They only have themselves to blame.

        • So what you’re saying is that if a white supremacist was hunting around for people’s comments that didn’t agree with his/her own opinions or beliefs, you’d be perfectly fine with your own information being broadcast on the Internet? DO UNTO OTHERS?? You’d be happy having your own safety compromised just for having an opinion wether it be right or wrong?? do we walk into people’s homes uninvited just because the front door was unlocked? Does anyone here understand the complications for these people if the wrong person didn’t like what they see here? Does anyone understand the complications should they decide to retaliate?? Does anyone here realise the pathetic , petty irony of punishing people who are scared of ‘terrorists’ with a minor form of terrorism??? So many articulate words used in these sledging posts by keyboard warriors on BOTH sides of the fence!!! Victimising someone is really just as bad as the racism we are trying to fight. SHAME ON THE LOT OF YOU !!!!

        • “So what youโ€™re saying is that if a white supremacist was hunting around for peopleโ€™s comments that didnโ€™t agree with his/her own opinions or beliefs, youโ€™d be perfectly fine with your own information being broadcast on the Internet? ”

If it was from a public forum, absolutely. I may not like it, but I have no reason to complain. As has been pointed out many many MANY times before, speech on a public forum, cannot be seen as private speech.

Let me put it this way. If this poster went out into the street and shouted it at the top of their voice, would you object to an onlooker saying on their mobile “Check out what this crazy person just said!”
No, of course you wouldn’t. What was said was said in a public forum, and therefore cannot be seen as public. Saying such a thing on facebook is just like shouting it in the street, except louder. Much, much louder-so potentially the whole world can hear.

Moreover, if this is a belief the person is proud of, then why would they complain? Quotes of mine, with my actualy picutre and real name have turned up on antibogan from time to time, and I’ve never complained-because they are statements I believe in, support, and am proud of (Usually they’re me remarking how stupid the APP are).

This goes to the contradiction in all those who criticise the TAB. TAB is just a pathway, a message spreader. It did not create the information it broadcasts, nor does it determine what happens to it. If there is nothing objectionable to what the poster is saying, then they should be proud of TAB posting it-if they’re proud of their views, having their views spread further would just make them happier! On the other hand, if there is something objectionable to it, then surely the original poster is responsible for the words they write, not any one else’s? Or do you honestly believe that responsibility for what an inidividual says falls somewhere other than the individual themselves?

“Youโ€™d be happy having your own safety compromised just for having an opinion wether it be right or wrong??”

How is safety compromised? No one’s address is put here, or mobile phone number. If they did, I’d be glad to criticise that sort on info.

” do we walk into peopleโ€™s homes uninvited just because the front door was unlocked?”

I don’t. But, on the other hand, if a person’s door is left unlock, and someone inside is screaming racist rants at the top of their voice, do we have to ignore them? And, if we tell someone about the craziness we just heard, are we breaching privacy?

“Does anyone here understand the complications for these people if the wrong person didnโ€™t like what they see here?”

Please, tell us what can happen? And make sure you do it in the way that TAB is directly responsible, rather than the poster themselves (For saying the thing in the first place), or “the wrong person”
Jesus Christ, what ever happened to personal responsibility? Seems every critic of TAB thinks EVERYONE in the WORLD should be blamed for the things they say, rather than themselves.

” Does anyone understand the complications should they decide to retaliate?? ”

Again, tell us, in usch a way that makes clear TAB is directly responsible, rather than the poster themselves?

“Does anyone here realise the pathetic , petty irony of punishing people who are scared of โ€˜terroristsโ€™ with a minor form of terrorism???”

Don’t try and justify this shit. “Oooh-they’re just scared of terrorists, we shouldn’t hate them!”
This person is clearly not “just” scared, if in fact, she’s scared at all. She’s using terrorism to justify her hate. After all, if all she is is scared of terrorism, why the comments about “Gook barbie” and african barbie?

No, she’s not scared. She just hates everyone who is different, and uses terrorism to justify this hatred of all others.

BTW-don’t you think it’s a bit insensitive to true victims of terrorism, people who have had their lives threatened, or lost, have had to flee their countries to survive, those true victims of terror…don’t you think it’s at least wrong to compare what they went through with “Republishing comments a person already published publically” as an act of terrorism.

        • “So what youโ€™re saying is that if a white supremacist was hunting around for peopleโ€™s comments that didnโ€™t agree with his/her own opinions or beliefs, youโ€™d be perfectly fine with your own information being broadcast on the Internet?”

If i had made my information publicly available then I damn well better be fine with people I don’t know or perhaps even want to know seeing it. Also you should ask the operators of this site if they have ever been threatened by people who don’t share their beliefs.

“Youโ€™d be happy having your own safety compromised just for having an opinion wether it be right or wrong??”

I don’t see how you have got this idea that this site is endangering them? This site has not posted any personal information about these two people besides what those two people chose to make public.

“do we walk into peopleโ€™s homes uninvited just because the front door was unlocked?”

A persons home is not public property. You would be breaking the law by entering uninvited.

“Does anyone here understand the complications for these people if the wrong person didnโ€™t like what they see here?”

The wrong person could have seen this information without ever visiting this website. Your fear of the “wrong person” seems fairly blow out of proportion. What if you are walking down the street and the “wrong person” walks past you? Imagine the complications!

“Does anyone understand the complications should they decide to retaliate??”

          Should who retaliate?

“Does anyone here realise the pathetic , petty irony of punishing people who are scared of โ€˜terroristsโ€™ with a minor form of terrorism???”

          What. Terrorism? Really?

“Victimising someone is really just as bad as the racism we are trying to fight.”

I don’t understand what makes you think these people are victims of any injustice? If I walk down the street (in public just like an open facebook page) acting like a dickhead and some random strange calls me a dickhead then I am the victim of nothing more than my own actions (being a dickhead). It is pretty much exactly the same situation as this. They only have themselves and their racist views to blame.

        • JM & Matt beat me to it. ๐Ÿ˜

May be there should be an ‘Internet license’ for bogans, like a pen license in school. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. A neutron. walks into a bar. It saunters up to the bartender and asks “How much for a drink?”. Bar tender replies “For you, no charge”.

  7. I think that if this person who posted this was really a “friend” they should have taken this up with them privately and not gutlessly outing their personal details up on this site. I don’t think anyone’s full name, hometown and photos should be posted and I must say that they have done a very poor job of concealing that information because it is still there in places!! and plenty of the other people who wish for those details to be private seem to have got their wishes! I am not an “Aussie” but I have friends who may be classified as “bogan” and believe people are entitled to their own opinion and I am not offended by that.. I would really hope this person posting this does have some kind of a social life and does like having the company of actual real people and not being a FB stalker – if you don’t like it then report it to FB and they will take it down.. We are Completely consumed by social media sites these days rather than posting comments about someone else’s life you CAN step away from your PC and go do something fun!

    • We are getting rather tired of the crimes of racism and bigotry being referred to as “opinions”.

What would you do if someone was loudly advocating murder or sex with children or animal cruelty on a Facebook page? This has in fact occurred because Facebook does not police its own pages – it is only interested in streaming its precious ads to the maximum audience.

      • What about that Anti Antifa site? You and some of your “friends” were put on it, in the same fashion as The anti-bogan, and those people were threatened with all sorts of legal action… The hypocrisy is unbelievable

        • Interesting take on it. Not sure how you can compare flushing out peoples’ private information and linking them to all sorts of comments and opinions that they’d never attached their names, workplaces or residences to with finding publicly accessible examples of racism and re-publicising them.

    • Sorry – as soon as Mitchey boy reached out to an audience in the several hundreds (according to his profile) and then reached out to a global audience via his pathetic YouTube video, he lost the privilege to have someone talk to him ‘privately’.

The admins of this site have lives, thanks for asking!
