A woman has been arrested for allegedly making racist comments to other passengers on a packed tram. The incident was filmed and posted online, prompting police to investigate.
The clip (which contains explicit comments some viewers may find offensive) had been viewed more than 124,000 times by Monday afternoon after being uploaded to YouTube on Sunday, and shows a woman with a child on her lap shouting abuse at passengers. The incident happened on the Croydon to Wimbledon tramlink. British Transport police said a 34-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
The video footage, which sparked a Twitter trend with the hashtag #MyTramExperience on Monday, shows a woman complaining about ethnic minorities living in Britain. She starts by saying: “What has this country come to? … with loads of black people and a load of fucking Polish. You ain’t English either. None of you are fucking English. Get back to your own fucking, d’you know what?
“Sort out your own countries. Don’t come and do mine. Britain is nothing now. Britain is fuck all.”
One of the passengers on the tram asks her to mind her language, saying: “There are little kids on the tram.” The woman points to the child on her lap and says “I’ve got a little kid here.”
Several other passengers complain about her use of language and racist comments, but the tirade carries on for more than two minutes.
Police launched an investigation after the video was brought to their attention on YouTube and Twitter. A spokesman said: “At present it is not entirely clear which tram stops the offence took place between and when it occurred.
“As a result, we need anyone who witnessed this incident, or with any information that could assist our investigation, to contact us.”

Did you actually sit down and think about this when you saw the video. Yeah, there was one woman makign noise of the tram, look at the people crticising her. See anyone joining in? So it’s one person on a full tram who shares your views, vs everyone else.
Do you think the majority are going to be won over when you start murdering children? Or are you planning to exterminate everyone in the world who disagrees with you? The UK is in pretty bad shape. With the global economy going the way it is, instances such as this will become more common. In some ways I find myself actually sympathising with this woman. The racism I cannot agree with. It is more the sense of futility and hopelessness, of having been abandoned by one’s own government, which she has been (i.e. David Fucking Cameron and his lapdog Nick Clegg). Watch, once Abbott is in power this will become so much more commonplace here as Abbott cuts public services and so shifts the “blame” on to foreigners.

Wow, WT almost gets it. Onel thing you forgot to mention is the years of neglect by the previous Labour government. What re u talking about? This woman is 100 years back, wanting chains to bring that “different” people back because they seem to be not British. Just a question: What being a British means? I read history and see how kings and governments have stolen around, abusing of the power, cheating people for centuries, making wars for money and all that just in the name of the “kingdom glory”. What “minorities”? Due to the destructive immigration policies of recent governments, British people are being made a minority in their own country! The woman was crazy-racist, yes. But the fact that EVERYONE ELSE IN THE TRAM was outraged, and challenged her on her bile, shows that her attitude isn’t really that commonplace. If anything, it shows that society is more accepting/less racist because you rarely hear that kind of thing in the mainstream anymore.
While I find her disturbing, it’s just as disturbing that she was hounded by the twitterati and arrested. It’s not a good look for Britain.
