“I volunteer to murder all of them!!!!!”

First of all – TAB admin do NOT in any way condone the actions of the few detainees that set fire to buildings within the Villawood Detention Centre. Let that be perfectly clear. Violence doesn’t get anyone anywhere, and as Prime Minister Gillard stated, it will probably lessen their chances of obtaining Visas in our country now. And we agree.

But…

For the purpose of this exercise, place yourselves in the shoes of an asylum seeker. You’ve had to flee your country because your country is under attack from militant forces, or it’s being bombed by Western forces attacking ‘terrorism’. The ones that are lucky enough to escape being killed in their own countries come here and land in detention centres. And it is there that they stay, under suspicion of being terrorists themselves for years at a time. The detainees that rioted at Villawood have been there for two years. And rather than oppose their actions, we’ve got so-called decent Australians calling for them to be murdered, shot, burned, put on leaky boats and sunk. Their assumption is that these people had it made. That these people had wonderful lives at Villawood where they had everything they wanted and needed. And that these people were all Muslims and all terrorists. So therefore, it’s only logical, rational and reasonable that we kill these people as though it’s sport. And although there are born-and-raised-here Aussies burning houses and killing people and raping women and children and stealing and bashing elderly citizens, they don’t deserve an ounce of our attention.

There are over 400 detainees at Villawood. According to Immigration Minister Chris Bowen, the handful of refugees that started it all had already had their applications rejected. Note that this is unconfirmed at this stage. Brami Jegan from the Refugee Action Centre believes that the night of rioting was an act of desperation – a cry out for help. When you’ve been locked up in a foreign country for two years, it has obvious psychological effects. We cannot simply assume that refugees are terrorists or criminals. They are escaping atrocities, and while it is of the utmost importance to apply character tests and necessary background and health checks, locking them in detention centres for years at a time is simply inhumane. And while they’re stuck in there, they’re constantly being threatened with being sent back to almost certain death. “They’ve got to the point now where they’re like, what are we even doing here, we’re just in prison, in indefinite prison in your country.” said Brami Jegan.

So where is the compassion and the understanding? Are these failures to be blamed on a handful of out-of-control stir-crazy detainees, or on a broader problem of endless mandatory detention and institutionalised racism?

Who cares, right? Just murder/shoot/drown the ‘scum’. They don’t have real lives, or real families, or real stories. Kill them.

Right?

  1. Why does the name Darrin Hodges ring a bell with me? Has he been featured on this page before or is he some dickhead I’ve met in real life, possibly from school?

Sadly I am not surprised by the ignorant views of these morons. This is what happens when both sides of politics and the media use their xenophobic dog-whistles to vilify asylum-seekers instead of actually doing something constructive.

    • He’s the head of the “Australian” “Protectionist” “Party” (which is un-Australian, largely unrelated to the economic idea of tariffs and not much of a party at all) and all around worst person on earth.

  2. Unfortunately due to these events I think that Facebook will see a spike in the kind of hate talk that Craig Nicho, Daniel Harry Holcroft, Aaron Vesseur, Joshua Dowling, Ric Glass et al show above

  3. Because blasting a bunch of overcrowded, barely floating, defenseless boats will totally make Australia look awesome and not at all like genocidal maniacs.
That is possibly the worst idea ever. We’re talking Kim Il Sun level lunacy here.

  4. Darrin and others garbage is unwanted and unwelcome that is not based on facts, but emotions and proves you don’t think before ranting.

And Craig is real stupid, as threating to kill others in public is a crime, so best wishes Craig.

  5. Perhaps we should let Darrin Hodges and the like spend a few years in detention just to see how long before they snap.

  6. Excellent points made TAB, but if these people have not been found to be refugees, then aren’t they asylum seekers? Being found a refugee means meeting the definition of a refugee as outlined in the UNHCR Guidelines on Refugee Status. You can seek asylum and have that denied…. which is what it sounds like these desperate individuals have had happen to them.

    • The trick is that asylum seeker and refugee are used almost interchangeably by both government and media.

In any case if someone enters australian waters seeking asylum then, my understanding is, we must determine their status one way or the other. We cannot turn them back.

  7. Let’s see Darrin Hodges barely escape war and oppression and then get put in detention for a non-determined amount of time and let’s see how happy he is. If he doesn’t feel at all like setting fire to things I’d be very surprised.

    • I’m thinking we should send them to Somalia. There they can try and explain why they’re such assholes. Also they will serve as target practice for the local warlord. Win-win

  8. B.U.M.B.
    Blantantly Useless Mouthing of Bigotry

Kill them all? Or even just “send them back” without due process?
If you believe in the laws this country was built on… do you not want to make sure EVERYONE gets a fair go?
Although I am quite disappointed that my tax paying money is not correctly being used too effectively process these refugees and assylum seekers in a timely manner. There is no MAGIC BULLET to solve this problem.
We need too acknowledge that since Australia is the LUCKY COUNTRY, that there are some people out there who will do ANYTHING to be part of this country.
Isn’t this the type of people we want?
WOULD YOU DIE FOR THE CHANCE TO BE AN AUSTRALIAN?

    • Although it’s not a magic bullet I think banning people like Darren hodges and his ilk from politics will make the debate a little saner.

  9. I have a couple of Sudanese mates….they have been lucky, they now live in australia and are trying to bring their families here too. they received an education that they have to pay for….homes they have to pay normal rent for…..food that comes from a grocery shop and they have to pay for….and on australia day (which is how i met them) they were buying go-lo out of australian products…money they earned doing part time or casual work…for less than I would…oh…they paid taxes too….quite proudly…but I do know a few aussies that have rorted the system…yep…..tax payers should what? Fund this Australian Protectionist Party?? Hmmm i would rather see the detention centres get my hard earned cash…….!

      • then the poor inmates will starve and more violence will erupt…!! and sadly to assume….the refugee’s will get the blame…the media never tells us the truth…!!

        • Under my system we’d give the asylum series’s facility’s that don’t cause the UN to give us bad reports. Or that cause us to almost violate human rights laws.

    • This would be the mention where we call you an idiotic prat? Rest assured you will find no lack of people who wish to call you a prat in Australia.

  10. Another thing…..and probably the most important fact is…..the only “ILLEGAL’S” that enter Australia and stay her…fly here on visa’s, never renew them and hide……usually as holiday makers….!!

  11. ‘Terrorism’?? why the emphasis? I take it you do not believe the actions of the Taliban to be terrorism?

Look, the ones who have rioted have gone through the due process, been given a fair go and found to be NOT refugees.

So, they spit the dummy as they have blown their cash on travelling here to Australia and paying Indo people smugglers.

They are not doing anyone any favours, they have committed criminal acts in Australia as they did not get their way. Now this is all over the news and people will judge. This only makes it more difficult for legitimate refugees.

    • There is no connection between those who come to Australia by boat (whether or not theyre found to be refugees) and terrorism.

And I’m any case it doesn’t make the views of darrin and his ilk legitimate.

    • There is no connection between those who come to Australia by boat (whether or not theyre found to be refugees) and terrorism.

And I’m any case it doesn’t make the views of darrin and his ilk legitimate.

  12. Well, I googled the letter that the esteemed Aaron Vesseur mentioned, and came up with the following. Prepare yourselves for hyperbole and questionable grammar.

    DON’T GET ME STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A good mate (A Company 7RAR Vietnam) Dave sent this letter to PM….Send it on at will….TO ALL

EMAIL SENT TO PRIME MINISTER GILLARD 16 March 2011

    David Harrison

    Address taken out.

    Dear Prime Minister Gillard,

I would like to express my concerns about the current situation with muslim Asylum Seekers/ Refugees/ illegal immigrants.

I am a Vietnam veteran and fought for Australia. I went to war when my country asked me without question and I am proud to say I am Australian who loves my country. I am a member of the Frankston RSL club with the largest membership in Victoria and visit on a regular occasion to talk to my friends. All the people I talk to have the same view as I do on the muslim people coming into our country.

This email will be put on the notice board and everyone’s attention will be brought to it as they enter the RSL. Your response will also be put on the notice board. The RSL has over 3,000 members.

I will also sent this to everyone that I have their email address and ask them to pass it on to all the other people they know. I guess this will get to approx 7 to 8,000 people. Maybe more.

Therefore I ask for real answers to my questions.

I have lived in the Philippines and Thailand and understand what the muslims are trying to do in the southern parts of those countries.

They are trying to get their own Islamic states and want to live under their own laws and rules. They are killing everyone that stands in their way. Men, women and children and even babies.

In Thailand they are killing all the teachers and burning down the schools to force the kids to attend Islamic schools so they can covert them to Islamic/muslim.

This is already happening in Australia where the Government and other authorities are changing the rules to suit the muslims.

Take Dandenong area for example, the kindergartens and pre schools now do not celebrate Christmas, Easter and other world Christian events because all muslims there would be offended. Therefore the Australian kids are being decimated against in there own country. THIS IS AUSTRALIA not some other muslim country.

Another example is a school in Coburg were having a school BBQ and the few muslim women on the committee ordered only halal meat. Therefore the Australian kid had to miss out on the BBQ or eat muslim meat. Your Centre Link and other government departments are banning Christmas decorations and the worst disgrace is that these Government Departments are stoping their staff observing the minute silence on the 11 of November. How dare your department’s heads instruct their staff in this way. These are all to suit the muslims that hate our country and our way of life here.

This is decimation against Australians and kids, which is a real disgrace.

Another stupid thing your Government has done is bringing the Sudanese to Australia. This is a Christian country however your Government has accepted the refugees from the northern Sudan, which are muslim, and not from the south which are Christian. How stupid. Now every Sudanese woman I see is pregnant to get the baby bonus. Again our taxes at work !!!!!!.

You and Kevin Rudd allow and welcome the Muslim boat people and allow them privileges the Australian people don’t get. Boats are coming every day and there are another 10 to 15,000 muslim people waiting in Indonesia and 10,000 in Malaysia that will be coming here. The Sri Lanken muslims are on boats now as we speak coming direct here.

How many do we have to take before they start bombing my children and friends. You know and I know it won’t be long before we get the same problems and bombings as other countries.

    WHO IS RESPONSIBLE THEN !!!!!!!!!!

People smuggling around the world is a very serious offence, however your Government welcomes it.

    My suggestion,

When the boats come here, have the captain and crew charged and jailed for people smuggling. A long jail sentence of 7 to 10 years as this will be a deterrent to other people smugglers.

Then fly the boat people back to their own country. We spend over $400 million to build the detention centre on Christmas Island and many millions in keeping them and giving them things that many Australian can only dream about. The muslims destroy the centre on a regular basis, which costs us taxpayers many millions of dollars to repair it. Then we repair it again and again.

Now your government is going to build another near Darwin at cost of over 90 million and 70 million to run it per year. Is this a joke on us taxpayers?

Or is this your Government just saying welcome to all muslims.

What added value are muslims to Australia.

They don’t work just take our taxpayer dollars.

Don’t want to call Australia home.

    Don’t accept our Christian culture.

    Don’t want to speak English.

Don’t want to abide by our laws.

    Don’t want to integrate.

Don’t want to go to our schools.

    Don’t want to play sport.

    And many other don’ts.

I recently went on the Clean up Australia campaign in 2 locations with hundreds of other people attending. Guess what!!!! NOT ONE MUSLIM OR SUDANESE THERE TO HELP. All were in their public houses relaxing and watching TV at what they think are stupid Australians working.

All the TV footage on the shocking Queensland floods with all the people helping to trying to clean up. I did not see one muslim or Sudanese helping. NO

WHY, they only care about how much money and benefits they can get out of Australia.

Do you ever see muslims or Sudanese living in cardboard boxes or cars with their children? NO, they are all living in our public housing FREE but Australians if they can get one have to pay.

MY QUESTIONS TO YOU AND YOUR GOVERNMENT.

    * How many muslims and Sudanese refugees live in Australia now?

    * What percentage of the Australian population are each group now?

    * How much of total taxpayers money spent on them for the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 years? The total amounts.

    * How much to you believe will be spent this year 2011 on refugees?

    * How much tax payers money is in the current budget to support these people?

    * If you need extra money for all the muslims boats coming, can you tell me which budgeted area the money will come from? Is it Hospitals, Education or reduction of Australians old age pension?

    * What percentage of Australian welfare payment do these refugees represent of the welfare budget?

    * Are you going to deport the muslim trouble makers and leaders at Christmas Island currently destroying public property?

    * Why don’t you allow all the Queensland and Victorian flood victims living in tents and other shared accommodation to live in motels like the muslims at the taxpayer’s expense?

    * Why didn’t you pay for the families to attend the funeral of Sapper Jamie Larcombe who was killed recently like you did for the muslim boat people and pay for the funeral as well?

    * Is it true that these refugees get the following payments?

    * Why do these muslim get a hardship allowance?

    BENEFIT
    AUSTRALIAN AGED PENSIONER
    ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN AUSTRALIA

    Weekly allowance
    $253.00
    $472.50

    Weekly Spouse allowance
    $56.00
    $472.50

    Additional weekly hardship allowance
    $0.00
    $145.00

    TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT
    $16,068.00
    $56,680.00

    Sensational

By the way the boat people are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS not asylum seekers or refugees.

Myself and most people at the RSL (WHO ALL VOTE) would like your response to the questions and what action you are taking to stop the muslim boat people coming here.

    Regards,

    David Harrison. (Butch Harrison)

    • Does this guy realise that halal meat is simply neat that has been prepares in a certain way (bleed out etc)?
And as for his comments about Muslims those just seem like bad conspiracy theories.
Alo Thailand is almost entirely bhuddist.

    • Oh wow.. Obviously the Frankston RSL is a real intellectual hub. It’s appalling to think they have this letter greeting people as they walk in the door.

Muslims kill babies now? Holy shit this is getting ridiculous. And bullshit on that clean up Australia day rant. It was great to see people of all ethnicities working together, he’s got no clue.

Lastly I’m all for holidays but I don’t see the need to celebrate a reincarnation (lol) that supposedly happened a couple of thousand years to a bloke I don’t think ever existed by stuffing my face with chocolate bunnies. Maybe in the future everyone will just get 10 ‘spiritual days’ to take throughout the year. That’s until everyone finds Darwin anyway..

  13. Very well put T.A.B. As an Aussie Muslim I had lost faith in my fellow Australians until I discovered this site. I’m glad to see that the racist bogans I’ve encountered through out my life are but a minority.

  14. And rejection gives them the right to riot? No. As illegal immigrants they surely must prepare for the possibility of being rejected? Right?

“Act of desperation”? It was act of utter disrespect, not desperation.

“When you’ve been locked up in a foreign country for two years, it has obvious psychological effects.” Again, what do you expect? We are a regulated country where rules and processes are applied AND these rules and regulations take time…..Right?

“We cannot simply assume that refugees are terrorists or criminals. ” No but these people (not all of them) acted in a barbaric way. Similar to prisoners that cause riots in prisons. If some of these illegal immigrants act in the same way how is that to reflect on them?

“They are escaping atrocities, and while it is of the utmost importance to apply character tests and necessary background and health checks, locking them in detention centres for years at a time is simply inhumane.” GIve me a break. You are talking absolute rubbish. Simply inhumane? Think before you say mate.

And while they’re stuck in there, they’re constantly being threatened with being sent back to almost certain death. Of course they are constantly being threatened with being sent back! They are illegal immigrants, that is some of the baggage that comes with being an illegal immigrant..the possibility of being rejected.. RIGHT?

So where is the compassion and the understanding? Are these failures to be blamed on a handful of out-of-control stir-crazy detainees, or on a broader problem of endless mandatory detention and institutionalised racism?

The compassion is shown by giving them the possibility to live here. Just like any job interview you would be expected to be on your best behaviour. The blame is certainly not on the ‘broader probelm of endless mandatory detention and institutionalised racism”. Mate are you kidding? Stop trying to be an intellect and stick to points that make sense. Endless mandatory detention? What do you expect? A simple maths test and yes buddy “welcome to Australia”? Rules have to be mate, tests have to be passed. What is wrong with that? There should not be a time limit as to when a decision has to be made.

    • “And rejection gives them the right to riot? No. As illegal immigrants they surely must prepare for the possibility of being rejected? Right?”

      Correct.

““Act of desperation”? It was act of utter disrespect, not desperation.”

It was both, Jo. Tell me – how much respect would you have after being locked up indefinitely (well, for at least two years) in a detention centre, in a country that is supposedly a signatory on the 1951 UN Refugee Convention? These asylum seekers are often separated from their families, suffering mentally after escaping tyrannical countries and weeks floating around on dangerous waters on leaky boats. They ARE desperate and confused and angry and scared. And you are clearly lacking compassion and understanding.

“Again, what do you expect? We are a regulated country where rules and processes are applied AND these rules and regulations take time…..Right?”

If you want to work in a school, it takes a week to do a background check. If you want to give blood, it takes a day to do a health background check. If you want to travel, it takes a few hours to do a character assessment. If you are fleeing a country where there is a war going on, it takes a few minutes to assess whether or not the country is safe to return to. The whole process of determining whether an asylum seeker is fit to be recognised as a refugee shouldn’t take more than a few weeks – months – AT THE MOST. And the more humane option is to do the basic checks and then allow the asylum seeker into the community with a restriction on travel, and a mandatory reporting system where they need to check in each day – in the same way released criminals on parole are treated. Consider the amount of money saved, and the humanitarian improvements.

“No but these people (not all of them) acted in a barbaric way. Similar to prisoners that cause riots in prisons. If some of these illegal immigrants act in the same way how is that to reflect on them?”

That’s the point, Jo. These people have now unfortunately lost any chance they may have had of calling Australia home. And they might have been decent people. Just decent people locked in detention for two years without any idea of when they’d be released.

“GIve me a break. You are talking absolute rubbish. Simply inhumane? Think before you say mate.”

Fuck you Jo. It is inhumane to lock someone up when their arrival in this country is NOT ILLEGAL, and when they have not committed a crime. Freedom is a basic human right, Jo, and these people were deprived of it in their home countries, and are being deprived of it here in Australia. FUCK YOU. Heartless slag.

“Of course they are constantly being threatened with being sent back! They are illegal immigrants, that is some of the baggage that comes with being an illegal immigrant..the possibility of being rejected.. RIGHT?”

Asylum seekers and refugees are NOT ILLEGAL you halfwit.

“The compassion is shown by giving them the possibility to live here. Just like any job interview you would be expected to be on your best behaviour.”

Job interviews don’t last for two years. And many have spent even longer in detention. And as far as we know, the people who started the fire at Villawood may very well have been on their best behaviour for two years. That’s 730 days of being locked up, by the way.

“Mate are you kidding? Stop trying to be an intellect and stick to points that make sense. Endless mandatory detention? What do you expect? A simple maths test and yes buddy “welcome to Australia”? Rules have to be mate, tests have to be passed. What is wrong with that? There should not be a time limit as to when a decision has to be made.”

What do you know/understand about the processing system, Jo? Fuck all? Thought so. Go get fucked you fuckhead.

      • “You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink” – Fuck anyone who doesn’t bother learning the difference between asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. Just shows how ignorant and hypocritical they are.

I’m sick to death of “real Aussies” bitching about immigrants and refugees refusing to “adapt” to “Australian” culture when half these idiots don’t even want to learn something so simple as a definition.

  15. I certainly don’t pretend to understand the processing system, and have only empathy for people who have to see their children grow up in these places as they spend years on end there, but I know a girl from Laos who was in a detention centre for three years before being admitted citizenship. She says that, although the conditions were often cramped, it wasn’t the prison-like experience as sometimes described. She was safe, fed, given entertainment, phone privileges, internet, and says that her time there was much preferable to the what she was escaping as a refugee – that having to wait several years and prove herself worth of admission was a small price to pay to live here.

I don’t agree with these assholes whatsoever, but I can to some extent understand the lack of empathy many have – the government do not properly educate the public on the practices of detention centers, and the media portrays them in harsh light that panders to bogans, which I find abhorrent.

    • That’s one example…compared to the hundred of examples where asylum seekers either currently in detention or refugees out of detention or those who have been rejected altogether talk about the awful conditions in the detention centres. You can’t just hang on to one example and say “Okay, the conditions are fine so there’s no reason for them to complain.” and then say lack of empathy is okay. And anyway, the conditions aren’t really the main issue. The main issue is the compulsory detention and how long it lasts. These people go from war and oppression, barely escape and often have family and friends who have been imprisoned and killed in those conditions, often are in difficult conditions travelling here, and then get put in prison-like fenced in centres for at least two years (which is often more than two years and the length of time hasn’t been determined). It would be frustrating beyond any level of frustration I (and probably you) would have ever experienced. Australia is the only country with mandatory detention for asylum seekers (both adults and children). We get way smaller number of asylum seekers than a number of other countries do, especially compared to our population and the size of the land, and people go on about the country being too full (while at the same time being encouraged to have heaps of babies). I would be pretty pissed off if I were in that situation. I’m not saying starting fires is a good idea but the anger is totally understandable.

      • and in saying that…the angligan church wants to stop immigration and baby bonus incentives…..!!!
I too think that someone who says they have been in a place like an assylum centre, would like it and any conditions rather than be in their own country and why the had to “escape”….!!
